Summer!

It's been a slow couple of weeks, which is understandable as it's summer and all.
However, we are not dead or anything like that.

As most already know, we are no longer a part of the wotr organization. I'll just copypaste what Admirable told the TF2 Gossip guys:

Joining wotr was one of the best moves we made since we started playing TF2 about 8 months ago.

We have gained a certain level of notoriety and prestige from the wotr organisation but we feel it is time to move on.
Of course we are grateful for all the support and love we have received from Xman, nos et al, however, the focus has always been on TCM.
We are a team pushing hard to improve and to represent our beautiful game at a high level; so we are putting ourselves in the shop window so to speak.
Whilst many people will say we are crazy for leaving wotr, we feel it is time for a change and want to shake things up. In fairness there is really not much to lose or gain either way as we have been mostly self sufficient since the beginning.
So we have decided to strike out on our own and see what happens!
We are, of course, open to all offers from interested MGOs but we aren’t holding our breath just yet…

This means we will be known as coolclan, at least for a while.

EMS
Tonight we will face off clan 00 in an EMS groupstage game. Our last encounter with them ended in a win for us, hopefully we'll be able to repeat that and not get farmed! We will be using DrJustice as a merc due to deith being in the caribbeans for this week.

VS
28.5 21:15 CET
RESULT: Badlands 4-1, Granary 5-3
WIN

ETF2L
As already stated, deith is on a holiday and cube is still banned from the league, we will have a rather tight schedule with getting the season done with. Here's a list of the games and their dates:

week1: Team Dignitas 15.6
week2: Level up(dropped) -
week3: FakkelBrigade 31.5
week4: Crack Clan 16.6
week5: clan 00 TBA
week6: 4Kings 10.6
week7: Team Coolermaster 11.6
week8: The Imperial 18.6
week9: Team YoYoTech After TCL

The Escapist tournament
We will also take part in the Escapist TF2 Tournament. The games will be played on Chicago servers so we're already at a massive disadvantage, also the rules of this tournament are a bit different from what we're used to, for example, the games are 5v5.
BUT, the massive prize whores we are, we decided to sign up anyway. Assuming our opponents are not that good(although I heard the former Team Pandemic signed up) we should have a pretty good shot at some razer goodies.

LAN Team
Seppo added to the lineup.

News!

A lot of stuff has been been boiling behind the scenes, and here's a small update - more to come!

The LAN Team
With financial problems and other issues we will not wield a full team for the community lan happening in july – instead, we will have a mix team based on our roster.
The last spot is reserved for a capable demoman, we will see what we can do to get deith to Holland.

The players:
Admirable (soldier)
Albert (medic, wotr)
cube (soldier)
perry (scout, clan 00)
Pizza (scout)

cube's ban
His ban from the ETF2L will not be removed, so it's a bit of a rough season start for us. One game already had to be postponed because of it, but I'm sure we will get all the nine games played, lineup and dates are yet to be seen. The ban lasts roughly for half the season, ending the 10th of june.

Medic
In the past two weeks we have gotten tons of applications concerning the free medic spot in our teams, several people which we also trialed.
I can honestly say it was a tough decision between a few good medics, but treigzak stood out the most with his division 1 experience and some slick moves.

As it has been done in the esports scene since the dawn of days, our active lineup as of now:

Admirable (soldier/medic.ire)
Altbstfrth (soldier.uk)
cube (soldier.pl)
deith (demoman.pl)
Pizza (scout.fi)
treigzak (medic.no)
wltrs (scout.se)
+ emergency reserve, Mr Life alias sherpa

A quick interview to go with these joyful news with our newly recruited mysterious norwegian:
växjö: Hello, who are and what do you do?
Mr T: i am robot, i play game
växjö: you have been around for a while now, more than most of our team. What were your past clans and your role in them?
Mr T: processing query.... First team recorded in database is known as fracture. Second team found in database is known as Übersexuals, who later changed name to TMGamers. error - minor stay at animate gaming team has been deleted, please contact service maintanance. Primary objective: Killing
växjö: you are better known as a capable scout, why the switch to medic?
Mr T: cause im shit
växjö: this will do, thanks!

we got ourselves a shit. Nice!

Cadred ranking
April's TF2 top 10 rankings were published some time ago and to be honest, after our spot in the march list, I can comfortably say that this time it actually feels like we deserve to be on the list.

After the unfortunate demise of Team Coolermaster, we should go up at least one spot for may's listing, possibly more depending on how the few teams above us score in the upcoming weeks.

Results since the last blog update:

EnemyDown: idk? - Gravelpit 1-1, Well 3-3 DRAW
EnemyDown: The Imperial – Granary 4-4, Well 2-2 DRAW
EnemyDown: wotr – Gravelpit 2-0, Badlands 4-3 WIN
EnemyDown: Crack Clan – Gravelpit 1-1, Freight 0-8 LOSS

As you can see, the last few weeks have been a bit dry gamewise, although our pcw schedule has been normal. Unfortunately The Wireplay premier division withered and died so we won't have any more games there. Also, there's only one game left in the EnemyDown league, our opponent being Dignitas.

Somewhere on IRC...
Pizza: I'd like to interview you for our blog tho!

Patriarch no more

As the title says, we have lost our medic. Pat joined our ranks out of nowhere and played with us very actively for about 5 months. He's not actually dead as the tombstone above suggests, only quit TF2 and I got a hold of him for an interview:

växjö: so in a nutshell, why did you quit?
pat: i dont really enjoy medic/tf2 much
pat: i still dont 'get' basic shit after 300hr so im probably not going to 'get' it
pat: i dont have the desire to work on fixing my problems so better i leave now. and you can get a better medic, who can become a 2nd caller
växjö: what are you going to do now?
pat: I'm doing some casual raiding with very old friends in WoW
växjö: what do you think wotr² should look for in a new medic?
pat: I think you should find someone who has excellent medding skills, makes very few mistakes, and wants to develop as a secondary caller in-game
växjö: mr obvious
pat: what else is there
pat: someone insanely active
växjö: anything else?
pat: No
växjö: give me some mean shoutouts
pat: shoutout to cube for all the hard work he does on tactics. shoutout to wltrs for carrying our asses in every game. shoutout to Alty for his neverending battle with cube.

This means we are on a lookout for a new medic, the etf2l recruitment thread can be found here.
If we fail at finding a new medic, we've got a secret plan up our sleeve that will make everything OK once again.

Results since the last blog update:

UKeSA Season 1: Envision - Well 4-1, Turbine 8-3 WIN
UKeSA Season 1: YoYoTech - Gpit 0-2, Freight 4-3, Turbine 3-8 LOSS
ESL Season 2: Game Control - Granary 5-1, Freight 2-2 WIN
Wireplay Season 3: wotr - Fastlane 2-2, Turbine 4-8 LOSS
Wireplay Season 3: Gallia - Badlands 4-2, Granary 8-1 WIN
UKeSA Open cup: YoYoTech² - Gpit 1-1, Freight 1-2 LOSS
UKeSA Open cup: Envision - Fastlane 8-0, Turbine 8-5 WIN
EnemyDown: Trademark Gamers - Freight 0-3, Badlands 0-7 LOSS
EnemyDown: YoYoTech - Granary 2-8, Gravelpit 2-0 DRAW
EMS Season 4 Qualifiers: idk? - Badlands 4-4, Badlands(GC) 1-0 WIN
EMS Season 4 Qualifiers: Die Doppelnullen - Badlands 5-3 WIN

The UKeSA Open cup was a huge failure on our part, kudos to YoYo² for playing well though.
The ETF2l season 5 has started and I believe our goal this time is to finish 5th, 6th or so and not become the punching bags of division 1. Season 5 start will be interesting for us as we need a new medic and cube being banned leaves us with only 5 players.

MASSIVE

ETF2L

As pat posted earlier, we won the division 2A quite convincingly winning all the teams but one which we should have won really. WP to veAre, though. They just simply outplayed us on turbine.
The div2 championship means that we'll be in division 1 next season battling with the best.
Season 5 is said to begin november/december 2009, an estimated date which I honestly thought to be an april's fool but guess not.
At first our main goal was to win division 3, but as we got surprisingly moved up to division 2 after the disbanding of hb0da, we just wanted to finish mid-high in the more challenging division. Eventually we got better and just wanted to win the whole shit and that's what happened really.

UKeSA Championship season 1

Went quite well finishing with a record of 7 wins and 0 losses/ties in the group stages, although it wasn't very hard as delirium folded alongside with nwave that might have been a possible threat. Next on we'll be facing tougher teams such as Vale! and it's a farm(Die Doppelnullen) in the playoffs.

UKeSA Open Cup season 1

Just played our first game against it's a farm(Die Doppelnullen)
Badlands was extremely tight with mostly us ruling the game for 25 minutes and having a 2-0 lead, but doppelnullen getting their shit together and coming back to the game ending the map in a 2-2 tie.
Granary was the same story really, but this time the game was 0-0 for the first 25 minutes and doppelnullen getting a round in the last 5.
Good game but the outcome was incredibly frustrating for us.

Wireplay

A new season just started and so far we have played one game which was against Zee, a team consisting of the best frenchies + Acidrenix.
Was quite a good game overall. We started a bit slow losing badlands 3-4 but came back strong and took the win on granary, 5-2.
The next game will be against wotr, perhaps we'll finally pin them down!

ESL

Tied a few games we should not have. Can't really complain about not being in the highest division with such results. Still have a few games left but they shouldn't be a problem.

Enemy Down season 5

New season about to start, the premier division is looking pretty good with a few top teams missing but then again a few new able teams entering the competition.

Cadred March top10

Interestingly we made it to the Cadred top 10 listing of march with our awful performance.
Generally march was just awful for us in every way but we have been doing better again lately and looking to keep our position in the april listing, or even gaining a rank or two.

Pat's blog

Patriarch started publishing some TF2 related stuff in a blog format. So far the blog has been a huge success with people praising it for the witty writing and daring opinions.
The blog can be viewed at http://archtapir.blogspot.com/

LAN

Hopefully we'll be able to wield a team for the community lan(thecommunitylan.com) that will be held in july.
So far we have three confirmed attendees, myself, Admirable and cube. The others are a bit so and so with Altbst and pat being definite no's.

Vallone

Recently added vallone to our roster. He will act as our number one backup player, the ultimate merc who will step up in the times of need.

Massivity

Thought this to be the blog post of the century but in the end it seems a bit lame and boring.

Champions of ETF2L (kinda)

So we finished first in our division @ ETF2L:

Overall a decent season. We achieved our goal of automatic promotion and played fairly well, although losing on Turbine (to a very determined vR) in our last game was a shame. Our other 'booboos' were two drawn maps against dmg and FB who came joint 2nd and will need a pre-playoff playoff to decide who makes the playoffs. Only 7 of 10 teams in our division finished the season and one of those will be/is folded now, but we enjoyed all our games in season 4 nonetheless. Now we have a long and painful season 5 lined up, after a summer break.

In other news, wltrs is 'back' after a short emo vacation. No-one knows what he was doing or why but he likes TF2 again (yay) and he wants us all to play more. Deith has a new PC and seems slightly happier (according to Pizza) - though he doesn't say much so we dont know for sure.

Finally, there's a new TF2-related blog. It won't be gossip or news, but more thoughts on the game, the clans and the noob players. Oh and it's written by me. Check it out HERE

Peace out.

PS. Pizza is da bomb

Tapir

You know what a tapir is?
The arch tapir is like the king of tapirs..
That's Patriarch.

Pat's first entry to the blog, hop on the hypetrain and stay tuned!
